One Year Anniversary- The Celebration

Roberto and I celebrated our first year of marriage on Sunday, June 15th. It was such a fun day focusing on and celebrating one great year!

We started our day off at church with my brother, his girlfriend and friend followed by a delicious brunch at the local Pancake House here in Lubbock. After this, I wasn't quite sure what we were doing- Robert had planned the rest of our day...and he did such a fabulous job! To start off, we packed our bags and headed to a nice hotel here in Lubbock...he knows the way to my heart! Maybe crazy, but I just love hotels, it felt like we were on vacation! We enjoyed a nice drink at their bar before heading out to a lovely dinner.

After dinner we headed to a brass band concert in the park...random but SO fun! We sat on a blanket, soaked in the nice summer evening and enjoyed the wonderful music-just perfect. If your in Lubbock, stop by Wagner Park on a Sunday night, we highly recommend it!

After the concert, we ended our night with a little dessert and a favorite, chocolate covered strawberries.

(sorry for all the blurry phone pics!)

To top it all off, we enjoyed a huge breakfast in bed the next morning- one of our favorites!

It was such a special day with Robert enjoying quality time together and celebrating one wonderful year.

Robert and I decided to stick with the traditional gifts for our first anniversary, paper! This week I will be sharing what we made for one another, as well as lots of other fun paper gift ideas!

Happy Monday, friends!

The Perfect Afternoon: Rothenburg

Before we left Germany, Robert and I decided to take another little day trip. Our last one before heading back to the states for the summer! It was kind of a no brainer where to visit. After recommendations from friends and Rick Steve's calling it Germany's Fairy-Tale Dream Town, we knew Rothenburg (specifically, Rothenburg ob der Tauber, there are other Rothenburgs in Germany) was the place to go! And I must say, it did not disappoint.

Beautiful colors, tons of charm and plenty of fun shops.

and...lots of sausage, of course.

After exploring down streets, out next stop was a stroll around the town wall. It provided some pretty amazing views...

Have I mentioned how much I love these pretty red rooftops, I think they are just gorgeous!

The only issue? Robert was a little tall for the wall height. He was a great trooper though and it made for some pretty good laughs.

In my opinion, this town is the epitome of a charming, German town. Everything from the architecture to the differnt colored bulidings to the medieval vibe.

Rothenburg is the birthplace of the Schneeball. Translation- snowball. Another translation- a big ball of fried pie crust. Robert tried it and said it was pretty good but that he would much rather have an ice cream cone...

Our favorite part of the day and our favorite part of this town...

I mean, look at that view. I was blown away. There is a little look out area/park at the edge of town and it was beautiful. Like take your breath away beautiful.

It was the perfect place to sit on a bench, talk about life and soak up the beauty of God's creation.

This was a great afternoon. There is not a ton to see in little Rothenburg but it is filled with so much charm and beauty that you leave feeling blown away. Rick Steve's was right, a fairy-tale town for sure.

One Year of Marriage

Warning: Sappy Post.

Today, Robert and I, are celebrating one year of marriage!

I really cannot believe it has already been a year since the day we said "I do". The day we were married was one of the best days of my life, but man this first year of marriage has by far surpassed that one day.

Marriage ia an incredibly beautiful thing, a true gift from God.

This past year has been full of ups and downs, laughs and tears, lots of learning and a whole lot of love.

God has taught us more than I ever could imagine through this union. We are learning better to love like he loves. To show grace in all circumstances. And to forgive always. We are experiencing just a glimpse of how great His love is for us.

We love because He first loved us.
1 John 4:19

Robert, Thank you for loving me with an indescribable love. Thank you for leading our marriage in the way God had instructed you to. I  am so grateful for your kind heart, your patience and your never ending hugs. Your positivity even in the tough times is inspiring and your love for all those around you constantly encourages me to be my best. Thank you for making me laugh like no one else can, for singing at the top of your lungs in the car with me and for all the kisses and hugs. You make life fun, exciting and just plain the best. Thank you Jesus for this man, my husband. Thank you for the gift of him and the gift of marriage. Robert, I am so grateful for you. I love you more than I could ever explain, but I promise to always try. You are one incredible man, friend and husband. I am so glad and so incredibly grateful I get to do this life with you, my love. I love you forever and ever, with all my heart, to infinity and beyond.

Happy one year baby!

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
1 Corinthians 13: 1-8

End Sappy Post :)

Friday Catch Up!

Hello blogging world! It sure has been a while since I've shared on this little space. We returned to Texas about 3 weeks ago and have enjoyed every little moment. We are enjoying friends and family and just having the best time here back at "home". But I am refreshed and ready to start blogging regularly again- so much to share, so much I want to document so I can look back and remember one day. So let's start this Friday off with a few tid bits to catch up! Here is what we have been up to the past few weeks...

{ONE} We have been hugging lots of necks. We have missed family and friends, so so much.

The sweetest little brother and sister- my heart is so full! (And the blonde hair is back- wahoo!)

{TWO} We have been able to spend tonss of time with family. And in my book there are few things better!

We love cousin time! Especially when our gigi is with us!

{THREE} It feels so great to be able to spend time with my bestest friends again. So good for the soul. And there are still so many more to see- summer needs to slow down!

{FOUR} One of our favorite parts about being home is hanging out with the "littles" in our life- it always is the sweetest time.

The cutest and sweetest cousins always give the best snuggles!

A group picture proved to be a little difficult...and brock sure does love a good selfie:)

Fun time at the park while Rob get's a little workout in.

{FIVE} Target, Chipotle, Banana Republic, Chick-fil-a....I could go on and on! We seriously missed American food and our my favorite stores. Here is Rob in Target, the day after we got back (I don't waste any time!), he just loooves a good Target run.

Important "business" calls to be made while the wife shops.

And there ya have it- a quick little catch up. We have a full few days ahead including our ONE year anniversary and a trip to Kansas to visit more family! Stay tuned as I blog it all including our trip to Italy!

Have a wonderful Friday!

Linking up with the Five on Friday ladies.
