Visitors in Poland

Last week, we had some pretty great visitors...Roberto's parents! They traveled all around Poland and then came to stay with us in Lublin for the week. They were able to see Rob play two games (and he kicked booty), we were able to take a fun day trip to Warsaw and we explored all around Lublin...even parts that Rob and I had yet to explore! We had such a wonderful time exploring, eating plenty of Polish food and enjoying quality time together.

The Polish culture truly is beautiful. There is so much history and beauty all around and it was so great to share that with Mark and Julie. Not only that, but they were able to get a feel for what our life is like here. Robert and I talk about how our life here in Europe is so different than life back home in the states, and it is so hard to explain that to people. So when we get visitors, it is so nice to be able to share our daily life with them and let somebody besides ourselves really understand what it is like to be an expat in Poland...all the ups and downs.

These two really enjoyed Poland and that makes me so happy. This place will always hold a special place in our hearts, it has been our home, where we have done life for the past 8 months, and I am so glad they got to experience such a wonderful place...a beautiful part of the world.

We truly treasured all the quality time we got with them and all the exploring we were able to do together. We had such a fun time adventuring around Lublin, showing them some of our favorites and then exploring new parts together. Not to mention, eating the best that Lublin had to offer. The combination from above? Makes for a pretty perfect visit in my book.

And can we talk about the fact that spring, precious spring, is starting to show?? That almost makes me as happy as having visitors...almost.

We are so grateful for those two and all the fun and joy they bring! The time here in Poland with them is time we will never forget and always treasure. We already miss them but we will see them in less than a month when we head back to the states. Yes, back home, I can't believe it is already that time! We are so glad we had company and for all the adventuring we got to do together. Thank you Poland for showing us a wonderful time.

Mama in Germany & Thankful Thursday

Today I am linking up with the wonderful Kristal, Katie, Mia and Carly for Thankful Thursday! I love that they are hosting such a special link up, what's better than focusing on what we are grateful for??

For my Thankful Thursday, I thought I would go ahead and recap my mama's visit. Because man, I am so thankful for her and that time with her. She visited a couple of weeks ago and we had so much fun. It was so nice to spend lots of quality time with her, I just missed her so much!

My mom got here Friday afternoon, and I am not going to lie, tears were shed at the airport. I'm such a mama's girl! That night we walked all around downtown and ate some German food- which Marcia did not like. I definitely saw that one coming:)

There are great gelato shops everywhere here. You can get a cone or you can get a huge treat like the one above. We all decided to share and it was pretty great. On Saturday Rob had an away game so my mom and I spent the day downtown walking, talking and shopping...a perfect girl's day!

On Sunday, we went to Dachau Concentration Camp outside of Munich. We had been before and as always it is a moving and very sad experience. It really opens your eyes and your heart to an unfathomable pain. We did a tour and learned so much.

After our tour, we then drove into Munich to eat at the famous, Hofbrauhaus and then luckily after dinner we stumbled upon the surfers! This is so neat. I mentioned this before when Holli, Ellie and I were in Munich but there are people surfing right in the middle of town on this river. It is wayy cool.

Monday we enjoyed a relaxing day and then Tuesday, my mom and I headed to Prague! Yes, this is my third time this year- but that shows how much I love it there! A place that is a must see when in Europe. It is such a great night trip to take visitors as it is only 3 hours away from us and it's beauty is indescribable.

It was a little rainy the whole time we were there and it was just so pretty. I love how the water reflects off the cobblestone in this picture...

my pretty mama striking a pose on the prettiest street:)

Because of the rain, I hardly pulled my camera out. But finally for a few pictures I did...

A view of the beautiful Charles Bridge. And then after a little walk, my mama and I on Charles Bridge. It is just spectacular.

The changing of the guards up at Prague Castle, it is very neat...

We toured Prague Castle, which is spectacular, and it gives you this incredible view (back to the phone pics)...

And crepes, oh crepes, how I love you.

We headed back to Nuremberg on Wednesday afternoon and met Rob that night for a delicious burger (we found the best burger place here, yay!). The next day was a very relaxing day, we were tired from all the walking we did in Prague. Then that night, my mom and I went to see Grease the Musical (part of my March goals) and it was so great!

They did such a great job! The company is touring all around Germany. The speaking parts were in German and the songs in English, it was so fun!

With the couple days we had left with my mom we went on a fabulous bike ride, enjoyed downtown some more and soaked in our time together.

My husband being all adventurous...

so grateful for this woman, the best mom a girl could ask for.

Spring is here ladies and gents!

Her last night here was spent at the basketball game! Mamasita, we are so glad you could come and see us. We had such a wonderful time and loved getting you all to ourselves!

Don't forget to link up for Thankful Thursday! What are you thankful for today?

Day Trip to Bamberg

When our friends visited last month we took a little day trip to a town about 45 minutes away...Bamberg. And it was so cute! Very quaint and pretty, we had the best time just walking around and enjoying the beautiful sites.

I mean how pretty is this...

I just love all the little red rooftops. They are all over Germany and I think they add so much character to a home.

These two guys were pretty happy to be reunited:)

I will always be in awe of all the old buildings over here.
^^^can you see the leg sticking out at the bottom of the building? Look really close. There is a painting of a person right there and they decided to make it look a little more interesting^^^

Look at those gentlemen carrying their "satchels". Otherwise known as the girl's camera  bags :)

isn't it just so quaint and cute? we all really adored this place.

^^^this little area is known as Little Venice. Such fun houses along the water^^^

The boys using google maps to find a place to eat. Google Maps is a lifesaver when exploring a new town or city! I have a plan to do a post about it very soon.

Roberto loves maps, like really loves them. He loves knowing every nook and cranny in a city which makes for a pretty great travel buddy.

How cute are these two lovebirds?!...

This was the perfect little town for a day trip! We went on a Sunday, so all the stores were closed, but we were completely satisfied just walking around, getting lost and enjoying all the beauty around us. If you can go on a day other than Sunday though they did have some really neat shops that would be fun to go into!

We also enjoyed some delicious German food at a place called  Klosterbrau. So if you ever make it to Bamberg it is a must! They also have tons of yummy gelato places all around that are perfect for dessert.
Germany has so many beautiful little towns all over that are so quaint, historic and really beautiful. You really can hardly go wrong. Bamberg is no exception. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there. It was the perfect Sunday afternoon!
