First Anniversary Gift: Paper!

About a month ago, Robert and I celebrated our one year anniversary. The traditional gift for your first year is paper and we both wanted to incorporate that fun idea somehow. So, today, I am here to share with you our paper gifts and some other ideas for anniversary one!

I decided to make Rob, a love frame (doesn't really have a name but that is what we will call it)! This idea has been floating around Pinterest for a while and it makes such a great paper gift!

What you need...
Picture Frame (I used an 8x10)
1 sheet of Scrapbook Paper
Letter stickers
Dry Erase Marker

First, cut your scrapbook paper to fit the frame and then start adding the letters. I decided to write "I Love You because...", but you could say whatever you like, "You're the best because...", "I am grateful for you because...", ect. I just eyeballed placing the stickers, it is not perfectly even but I think it turned out great! Now just place your paper in the frame, wrap, give and enjoy writing sweet messages to one another!

I also gifted Robert with a journal from Italy he pointed out when we were shopping in Florence one day. I was able to buy it when we were apart for only 5 minutes and hid it the best I could in the camera bag, but that little stink still found it, so it was not a surprise but a gift he couldn't wait to get:) The last gift I got him was a personalized deck of cards from Shutterfly, and oh my they turned out so cute. We love playing card games together and with friends so I thought this was the perfect gift and Rob completely agreed! Robert woke me up in the morning with a card and paper flowers that he made- so, so sweet. Then he gave me two other cards throughout the day- the best. Later he trailed off from the paper idea with my other gift- a hotel stay! Which I will take any day:)

A few more paper gift ideas...
- personalized deck of cards
- writing journal
- paper flowers
- cards
- tickets to an event
- buy something your significant other really wants and then use the receipt as the paper portion of the gift:)
- love frame!
- Photo book
- a jar full of scraps of paper- a reason you love him, a memory from the past year, ect. written on each slip. If you have time do 365- that way he can read one each day for the next year!

I could go on and on, but these are my favorite ideas! We might not stick to giving the traditonal gift every year, but this year it sure was fun! It is kinda nice to have a "focus"...

Did you gift the "traditional gift" for your anniversary? Share your ideas!

One Year Anniversary- The Celebration

Roberto and I celebrated our first year of marriage on Sunday, June 15th. It was such a fun day focusing on and celebrating one great year!

We started our day off at church with my brother, his girlfriend and friend followed by a delicious brunch at the local Pancake House here in Lubbock. After this, I wasn't quite sure what we were doing- Robert had planned the rest of our day...and he did such a fabulous job! To start off, we packed our bags and headed to a nice hotel here in Lubbock...he knows the way to my heart! Maybe crazy, but I just love hotels, it felt like we were on vacation! We enjoyed a nice drink at their bar before heading out to a lovely dinner.

After dinner we headed to a brass band concert in the park...random but SO fun! We sat on a blanket, soaked in the nice summer evening and enjoyed the wonderful music-just perfect. If your in Lubbock, stop by Wagner Park on a Sunday night, we highly recommend it!

After the concert, we ended our night with a little dessert and a favorite, chocolate covered strawberries.

(sorry for all the blurry phone pics!)

To top it all off, we enjoyed a huge breakfast in bed the next morning- one of our favorites!

It was such a special day with Robert enjoying quality time together and celebrating one wonderful year.

Robert and I decided to stick with the traditional gifts for our first anniversary, paper! This week I will be sharing what we made for one another, as well as lots of other fun paper gift ideas!

Happy Monday, friends!

One Year of Marriage

Warning: Sappy Post.

Today, Robert and I, are celebrating one year of marriage!

I really cannot believe it has already been a year since the day we said "I do". The day we were married was one of the best days of my life, but man this first year of marriage has by far surpassed that one day.

Marriage ia an incredibly beautiful thing, a true gift from God.

This past year has been full of ups and downs, laughs and tears, lots of learning and a whole lot of love.

God has taught us more than I ever could imagine through this union. We are learning better to love like he loves. To show grace in all circumstances. And to forgive always. We are experiencing just a glimpse of how great His love is for us.

We love because He first loved us.
1 John 4:19

Robert, Thank you for loving me with an indescribable love. Thank you for leading our marriage in the way God had instructed you to. I  am so grateful for your kind heart, your patience and your never ending hugs. Your positivity even in the tough times is inspiring and your love for all those around you constantly encourages me to be my best. Thank you for making me laugh like no one else can, for singing at the top of your lungs in the car with me and for all the kisses and hugs. You make life fun, exciting and just plain the best. Thank you Jesus for this man, my husband. Thank you for the gift of him and the gift of marriage. Robert, I am so grateful for you. I love you more than I could ever explain, but I promise to always try. You are one incredible man, friend and husband. I am so glad and so incredibly grateful I get to do this life with you, my love. I love you forever and ever, with all my heart, to infinity and beyond.

Happy one year baby!

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
1 Corinthians 13: 1-8
