Weekend: Valentines 2015

I think this is the first time Rob and I have celebrated the actual day of Valentines together. This was our fifth valentines to be together, but on the day of we have always either been in different cities or it has been game day for Roberto. So to celebrate Valentines on the actual day together was pretty fun and such a treat!

On Friday, we went to the movies and saw Into the Woods, it was ok but definitely not our favorite. Then on Saturday, Rob had practice, I worked out and then we came home for a nap (priorities first) and then to celebrate!

This year, we decided it would be great to celebrate by cooking dinner together. And it was wonderful. We listened to Michael Buble radio and cooked the night away. We made steaks (using this recipe), baked potatoes, the best salad ever and homemade biscuits...and it was all so good, we were pretty dang proud of ourselves!

Here in Poland, there is no such thing as canned biscuits. So when the husband's only request was biscuits, I knew it had to be homemade. And? They were so, so easy and so, so good. Recipe here.

We followed dinner with a V-Day must-chocolate covered strawberries made by the husband and my all time favorite... Dirty Dancing. What better day to ask the hubby to watch the most and best girly movie ever? He's a keeper!

I am a firm believer in spreading the love all year around. Striving to love others daily, the way God loves each of us...with such a great, indescribable and even undeserving love. But I also love Valentines. I think it is fun, whether your are celebrating with your significant other, your gal pals or your family. It is the perfect way to focus on loving those around you just a little extra...making them feel extra special.

And this man sure makes me feel special. My love for him just contiues to grow. He amazes me daily with the way he loves and lives. I am just so grateful to be his wife.

So basically? It was a great V-day! Then on Sunday we ate way too much of our leftover chocolate and binged on Parenthood (which I am currently way too obsessed with).

It was a great weekend celebrating with my love! How was your weekend?

5 Movies to Watch on Your Next Date Night

Roberto and I are huge movie lovers.

Honestly, our perfect date night normally consists of a delicious dinner and a good movie. We just love it.

So want to have an inexpensive and fun date night? Watch one of these movies! They are ones that you and your man will both love.

Cook dinner together before hand then snuggle on the couch with a cozy blanket...a date night that can't go wrong.

{One} Crazy, Stupid, Love.
Yall. Rob and I cannot get enough of this movie. We seriously crack up every.single.time. Want a romantic comedy that is {mostly} light-hearted?? This is for you and your honey!

{Two} About Time.
This movie is a more serious one and another one that the husband and I would highly recommend. It has such a lovely message and it is just sweet.

{Three} The Proposal.
I think this is a "classic" and one you just cannot go wrong with. It is light-hearted, romantic and hilarious!

{Four} Super Hero Movies.
Ok, ladies you mights think I am crazy. But this is a genre your man will love and I think you can too! I thought I would never like these kind of movies, but then I got sucked in and Roberto was thrilled. They are the perfect mixture of intensity, fun and they always keep you on your toes. Try the marvel series, Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, The Avengers...they are all intertwined so it is easy to get invested and wanting more!

{Five} The Usual Suspects.
Ok, another movie that could sway more to the "guy movie" side. If you are wanting a more intense, mysterious movie, we both would recommend this baby! We both really enjoyed it. A little bit of a different suggestion  for a date night, but sometimes you need something more than a chick flick.

Now go enjoy a wonderful date night tonight with your main man {or even a super fun girls night}! Eat, watch, relax, cuddle and enjoy!

One Year Anniversary- The Celebration

Roberto and I celebrated our first year of marriage on Sunday, June 15th. It was such a fun day focusing on and celebrating one great year!

We started our day off at church with my brother, his girlfriend and friend followed by a delicious brunch at the local Pancake House here in Lubbock. After this, I wasn't quite sure what we were doing- Robert had planned the rest of our day...and he did such a fabulous job! To start off, we packed our bags and headed to a nice hotel here in Lubbock...he knows the way to my heart! Maybe crazy, but I just love hotels, it felt like we were on vacation! We enjoyed a nice drink at their bar before heading out to a lovely dinner.

After dinner we headed to a brass band concert in the park...random but SO fun! We sat on a blanket, soaked in the nice summer evening and enjoyed the wonderful music-just perfect. If your in Lubbock, stop by Wagner Park on a Sunday night, we highly recommend it!

After the concert, we ended our night with a little dessert and a favorite, chocolate covered strawberries.

(sorry for all the blurry phone pics!)

To top it all off, we enjoyed a huge breakfast in bed the next morning- one of our favorites!

It was such a special day with Robert enjoying quality time together and celebrating one wonderful year.

Robert and I decided to stick with the traditional gifts for our first anniversary, paper! This week I will be sharing what we made for one another, as well as lots of other fun paper gift ideas!

Happy Monday, friends!

One Year of Marriage

Warning: Sappy Post.

Today, Robert and I, are celebrating one year of marriage!

I really cannot believe it has already been a year since the day we said "I do". The day we were married was one of the best days of my life, but man this first year of marriage has by far surpassed that one day.

Marriage ia an incredibly beautiful thing, a true gift from God.

This past year has been full of ups and downs, laughs and tears, lots of learning and a whole lot of love.

God has taught us more than I ever could imagine through this union. We are learning better to love like he loves. To show grace in all circumstances. And to forgive always. We are experiencing just a glimpse of how great His love is for us.

We love because He first loved us.
1 John 4:19

Robert, Thank you for loving me with an indescribable love. Thank you for leading our marriage in the way God had instructed you to. I  am so grateful for your kind heart, your patience and your never ending hugs. Your positivity even in the tough times is inspiring and your love for all those around you constantly encourages me to be my best. Thank you for making me laugh like no one else can, for singing at the top of your lungs in the car with me and for all the kisses and hugs. You make life fun, exciting and just plain the best. Thank you Jesus for this man, my husband. Thank you for the gift of him and the gift of marriage. Robert, I am so grateful for you. I love you more than I could ever explain, but I promise to always try. You are one incredible man, friend and husband. I am so glad and so incredibly grateful I get to do this life with you, my love. I love you forever and ever, with all my heart, to infinity and beyond.

Happy one year baby!

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
1 Corinthians 13: 1-8
